Exclamation Signature on PR Card

Dear Experts:

I am from Japan. In my application forms, wherever I was indicated to sign, I signed my name in Japanese character (as I was obliged to sign in my native language).

Now in my Confirmation of Permanent Resident paper, there is a place where I have to sign (when landing in Canada) in front of immigration officer. I guess this signature is supposed to be placed on my PR Card.

My question is:

Can I start signing my name in English alphabet from now on, wherever I have to sign, including this COPR?

Thanks

Yes you can sign now in alphabetical characters, use the spelling in your passport.

Dear Mr. Humphries:

Thanks for your clarification. Just the last thing i need to understand is:

If the spelling in my passport looks like (i.e. Masamichi Fuchigami) can i shorten to M. Fuchigami , when i sign my name?

Thanks in advance
