Should we combine our File right now or wait?

I am very confused right now. I sent in my application for PR under
the skilled worker category to Buffalo in January 2003. Last month, my
boy friend and I decided to get married, he also sent his application
under the skilled worker to buffalo in January 2003. We've been in
Canada as students since 1997, if we get married we will have to
notify Buffalo to combine our files together, that indeed will help
our application since my partner and I have studied and worked in
Canada, however I am scared that having been waiting for almost a year
now, if we combine our application, it might prolong the process to
another 9 or 10 months.
Can any experience, expect, or someone advises me on whether to
proceed get married and notify Buffalo to combine our application, or
put the married on hold before getting the PR?
Thanks in advance

If you marry, you have to tell Buffalo anyhow. If you are married and the
applications are combined (don't know if this is possible, but likely) one
of you will have to be the principle applicant and depending on the spouses
education and Canadian work experience the principle applicant will gain
adaptability points.
