Also if you look under the requirements for that NOC code then do some of the duties listed there marry up with his waste and water management? Just a thought?

well, he is a water & waste water engineer !! he studied 4 years and took many courses (during his B.s.c study) about pipe lines / water distribution systems , sewerage etc !! and in fact that's what brought him to work as a plumber in a certain period of his life - because he had this background about plumbing ...

now he is no longer self employed and no longer working as a plumber

what do you think about it ? will there be a chance for him to be eligible ??

Were the duties listed under the plumber NOC code the main part of his daily job though? That's the important bit, if he only did plumbing as a small part of his job, then he won't qualify. He'll need to prove he did the 'main duties' listed full-time to be eligible.

Also, don't forget that he must meet the criteria set out in the opening paragraph of the NOC code -

Plumbers install, repair and maintain pipes, fixtures and other plumbing equipment used for water distribution and waste water disposal in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. They are employed in maintenance departments of factories, plants and similar establishments, by plumbing contractors, or they may be self-employed.

If he did the duties, the above paragraph applies to him, he has at least 67 points, and his work experience was within the past 10 years, plus meets the other criteria i.e has enough proof of funds, passes the medical, etc, then he should be eligible imo.

I honestly don't know what the job description for either a plumber or a waste water management person would be (other than s**t floats downstream, paydays Friday ).

Have a read under the NOC lists - because from what you have said, he has some form of certification from his previous job.

I'll say that again - read the requirements under plumber on the NOC list - that will tell him what duties he should have / can performed.

Ok thank you everyone . now I think the question is: will the courses that are related to plumbing (that he took during his 4 years university studying) will they be considered OK for trade certificate ??

" A combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in plumbing is usually required to be eligible for trade certification."

I think the best thing to do is start a new thread with that question on, as it's not a visa related issue anyway and it'll avoid hijacking the OP's thread any more than it has been already!

Put it in the main Canada forum and hopefully some plumbers there will be able to help you, and also a search for 'Red Seal' will give you some info. You could also look at the Red Seal website to see what their requirements are for him to sit the exam in Canada to gain equivalency.
