RICH is sort of self-employed, running his own business - but formally he got work permit to work in his business, not to be self-employed.
Self-employed category is exclusively for those who are self-employed in cultural field and will make contribution to cultural life of Canada, self-employed professional athletes and farmers who have farming qualifications/experience and will buy farm in Canada.
If person is self-employed in any other field then the only option is skilled workers class. Proving work experience would be a rather complex task in such cases.

Yep - my WP was dependent on investing in and developing a business to create employment for myself.

It's a pain getting anywhere from Ottawa though. It'll take five hours to get to Orlando (via New Jersey) and six to get back (via Ohio). I hope to hell I can take my case in the cabin; I have a 60 minute connection in Newark, which has "bye-bye baggage" written all over it.
