Default Residence Calculation

My OH is a little confused as to when he can apply for his citizenship. He landed 17th December 2005 but didnt physically move here lock stock and barrel until 20th October 2007.He had two visits to Canada between those dates. Does he take 17th December 2005 as his arrival date and calculate the number of days between then and now, deducting some 365 days absent because of trouble selling our UK home and two holidays to the USA, in which case he is eligible to apply for citizenship 2nd November 2010.

Or, does the counting start from the day he physically arrived here i.e. 20th November 2007?

Page two of his application actually asks for the dates he became a permanent resident and first came to live in Canada if different.

If he is not yet eligible to apply for his citizenship, his PRV expires January 2011 so should he apply to extend that?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

1095 days in the preceding 4 years as a PR. Any time before becoming a PR in the 4 year period counts as half a day. He is eligible if he meets that.

The CIC online calculator should help calculate the exact date:
