Default representative or not ????

Hi,

How beneficial have people found using an immigration specialist and what sort of costs are involved?

Regards,

Gav.

We used a representative and they were great for making sure our paperwork was completed properly and everything was in order. However, I don't think I would use one if I had to do the process again.

We wrongly presumed that they would be able to converse with CIC better than us "normal folk" but they were not able to. We encountered a few problems with our application and our lawyers were no help at all. They would just say things like "look at this site here ....... good luck with it!"

Hi,

yes, we used an immigration company too, I really would think twice about using them, it is a lot of money.......and I really think you would be able to get through it yourself, there is lots of help out there.

In hindsight, I would have done the whole thing myself.

We paid £4,000.

Good luck!

All we can say it that having done it once with an agent, and paying the associated high costs, we wouldnt use them again.

I know it all seems daunting at the start but you will be doing yourself a huge favour to take your time to think about the different stages, and using resources like here on the expats you should be ok with things; despite how much the agency will try to convince you otherwise: they really dont do much for what they are paid.

Isnt hindsight wonderful

Hey jo,

I sent you a quick message after all the stuff with MB but I'm assuming you are maybe not accepting private messages on here.
If you switch them on then say hi and let us know your progress.

If I could throw my tuppence in....
We did the whole process ourselves and there were a couple of hair pulling moments but a bit of time alot of carpet space to sort stuff out and everything went well!!....

I have to admit it was hard work but by the sound of things money well saved.
thx
marty
