Default Renewing visitor visa, Experts!!!

I am in Canada since June 2003 with a work permit. Recently I got an extention of the work permit for two years more. However my visa (sticker in the passport) expired and I would like to obtain a new one to be able to visit my family during christmas, summer holidays, etc??. I am aware that I have to send my application to a visa office out of Canada. My question is: can I send it to Buffalo??, is this an automatic process since I have a valid work permit or can it be denied?.

Thanks a lot!!

Yes, you can submit your application to Buffalo. Although nothing is ever certain with immigration I can say that you should not have problems getting an entry visa as I did this myself when I was on a work permit in Canada. They actually issued me a visa within a day or 2 of receiving my mailed in application (Each case is unique though).

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot Sam!!!. Did they issued you a multiple entry visa?. I forgot to mention that I also have a pending permanent resident application in Buffalo (I am a Quebec Selected Applicant). Do you think that this will have any impact??

Thanks a lot again!!!

Hey Mini

I only got a single entry as it was what I applied & paid for. Often, if you pay for a multiple entry, they give it to you til the end of your work permit. It all depends on the officer. If your PR appl. has any impact, I think it will be minimal coz you are already on a work permit. You will have to disclose this in the forms somewhere.

Hope this helps

I fedexed my application package to Buffalo.
Within 10 days, I received my passport back via regular mail. Please note that I had forgotten to include a return envelop

Hope this Helps

I am on the second temp. working permit and I got a multiple entry visa from Buffalo (PR pending). No problems here, however, as Sam stated, you might consider prepaying the registered letter envelope (imagine the mess if your passport is lost in the ordinary mail).
