Relinquishing PR Status
 

Hi all, has anyone on here returned to UK and relinquished their PR?

We have now been out of Canada for the maximum amount of days, so effectively our PR cards are of no use, even though they are technically still in date.

If we were to visit Canada now I suspect we could have issues, so it's best for us to knock them on the head so that we can go back to being 'visitors'.

Just wondering if there is anyone who has done the same and how long it takes to get it all sorted.Thanks

If you have no intention of returning to Canada to stay then relinquishing your PR is the way to go. There's a bit of fairly straight forward form filling and the process only takes about a week after which you can apply for an ETA.
If your current PR card is in date and you want to travel right away you could just go as all the airlines want to see is an in date card. Carrying an in date card you would be very unlikely to be challenged by CBSA at the border and even if you were and they slatted your for a posible RO violation you wouldn't have lost anything.
