Default Regarding PR status and sponsoring spouse

I want to thank all of you, specially Andrew for all his Answers. I
have received a letter from CIC asking my passport for Visa stamping
within 30 days.

Miller and all, I have some questions here.

Here is my case. I work in Detroit, US and I am on H1 visa in US.

1. After I get my Visa stamped, how long can I stay outside canada
without landing.

2. Since I have H1 visa for US and Canadian PR, can I work in US and
stay in Canada by commuting daily. If so can you give me information
on it.

3. How long do I need to stay minimum in Canada once I land.

4. Can I establish an address in Canada and provide to CIC and stay in
US.

5. If I land in Canada and comeback to US and then if I get married
will there be any problem on my Visa status.

Your responses are appreciated.

Warm Regards,
Sri

I am no expert, but I hope what I know can help. Here I answer to the best
of my knowledge.

I think the stamp will have the expiration date, which I think will be 1
year after your medical check up.

You are talking about 2 separate issues:
a. entering Canada every day, and
b. entering US every day.
Since you are (will be) Canadian PR, entering Canada probably not a
problem. However, entering US can be a problem. It is possible that you
will be denied entry or be interogated for several hour.
Also remember that you may need valid US entry visa.

    >3. How long do I need to stay minimum in Canada once I land.

You need accumulate 2 years of stay in Canada in every 5 years periods to
keep the PR.

    >4. Can I establish an address in Canada and provide to CIC and stay in

Yes you can, but it doesn't matter to the residency requirement above.
You still need to physically stay in Canada 2 years in every 5 years
period.

    >5. If I land in Canada and comeback to US and then if I get married

I don't think there will be any problem to your status. There may be an
issue about your spouse status, if your spouse is not Canadian, but you
want to bring your spouse to Canada.

Hope it'll help.
