Default Regarding Maintaining Status For Immigration

Hello Experts,

I am looking for an information, which I can’t get from cic website so I am posting it here.

Currently, I am on the post graduate work permit and say if it going to expire in December 2004 and I apply for extension in October 2004 to study after my work permit expires.

And if it is approved in November 2004, than what happen in this situation? Am I still officially able to work until December 2004 or as I get my new study permit in November 2004, my work permit gets cancelled and I can’t work? I am doing this all to maintain my status to put my immigration file.

Please help me with this information. I thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

You will be OK to continue working until the expiry of your work permit.

Hello Jim,

I thank you for your prompt reply. But i have doubt in my mind, because i heard different things from my friends.

Isn't it whatever permit I applied and get, last holds. The earlier permit is cancelled or loses its status.

Your response will be appreciated.

No, if you have a valid work permit you have a valid work permit, regardless of any other visa you have.
