Those of you who have applied for permanent residency and/or received it I have a question
for you. As part of the application you must give references. How many references are
sufficient and what kind of references is the canadian government looking for? Personal
references, Job references? Can anyone enlighten me on the subject. Your input and insight
would greatly be appreciated.

One reference per employer is typically sufficient. Details of the position you held are
most important, as personal references do not aid in the evaluation of your intended
occupation.

It is not about the number of references - it is about what those references can verify in
respect to your work experience, particularly in the occupation you declared on your
application as your intended one in Canada. You need as much as possible to support your
claim of experience.
