Default 'Ready for Visa' email and uploading copies of documents

I received an email this morning entitled Ready for Visa that suggests they need the following from us:
  1. Scans of passport bio pages (online)
  2. Copy of their email plus completed Appendix form (online)
  3. Professionally taken photos (post to London)
The last part is easy enough but when I logged in to the online application it doesn't show any kind of updated status and has nowhere to upload additional documents.

Has anybody encountered this before? I've emailed them but it looks like they want these 3 things within the next month and I've heard nightmares regarding an email/phone black hole where the CIC are concerned.

TIA.

The MyCIC facility is notoriously flaky and many others have had requests for uploads but no button appearing on their mycic account to do so. Best to mail them in (you have to do this anyway for the photos).

Will that be alright though because their email specifically states:

For citizens using MyCIC AND from a country that is exempt from obtaining a visa to Canada –

Please mail/courier only your photos (see ‘STEP 3: PREPARE YOUR DOCUMENTS’ above). All other information must be uploaded to your MyCIC account.
My accompanying spouse and I are of mixed nationality but neither of us need a visa to travel to Canada so I'm going to guess that's the rule that applies in our case.

I did try emailing them to inquire about this but their auto-reply states a 28 day turnaround time. They must have issued a load of PPR's yesterday though because after posting this thread I've noticed quite a few people have the same problem on this forum and others so it clearly isn't just my mistake. Like you say it just seems to be a flaky IT system.

Incidentally, does this mean our application has been provisionally accepted and it's just pending the final paperwork?

normally means they have determined you are eligible and are awaiting final documents so they can issue COPR paperwork.

If I remember correctly this is done by post not via the CIC portal.

I too did not show any change in status on myCIC portal when I received the email asking for copies of passports and photos.

Thanks, I emailed them and I think they said just put it the envelope with the pictures although they weren't 100% clear.

Please submit the required documents along with your photographs either via the VAC or by post, as appropriate.
I'm presuming VAC means the online system otherwise known as myCIC. I wish they'd use consistent language.

VAC = Visa Application Centres

Dear all, I have contacted the email at the top of the letter I received (LDN) and this is the reply....

Dear Applicant,

I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble with MyCIC. Sending photocopies of your passport along with the photos will be fine and wont delay your application.

Hope this helps.

Kindest Regards,

I hope this helps - I would recommend contacting the email address at the top Put "urgent" in the title as the normal turnaround is 28days. Nut with urgent it is 48hours.

Best wishes

I hope my next post is from Canada :-)

Thanks. In any case it seems like they don't mind people sending these things in the post since you have to mail original pictures to them anyway.

Hi all, I received confirmation today that COPR is being sent out to me so postal route did not have any impact on the speed.
Thanks

We had the same email and also the same issue. Although I did have one upload box for my passport scan but nothing for my girlfriend.

I uploaded my passport scan but also posted; the letter, appendix A, both mine and my girlfriends passport scans and the photos.

The photo specification they link in the email is for 50 x 70 mm photos, this is quite annoying as that isn't a standard size. Most are 50 x 50 or UK passport size.

That's what I did today. I just chucked everything in an A4 envelope and sent it to London. I did retry 'myCIC' yesterday and there was still nowhere to upload anything so submitting the documents digitally didn't seem to be an option.

The shop that took the photos had a pre-made template for Canada so I'm going to assume that was OK. I'm sure the Canadians will let me know if it isn't.

I thought you didn't want to go to Canada anymore because they were singling you out for a police check

I have to be honest, all that nonsense did put me off somewhat.
