Default Re-entry for a Canadian PR

Hi All,

Could anybody tell how smooth is the re-entry to Canada for Permanent Resident? When a PR enters Canada, does evertime he has to prove that he still satisfies the Permanent Residency obligations (2/5 year rule)?

I became Canadian PR in Aug, 02. Now after around 1.25 years I am planning to move to Canada in Nov. Just wanted to know whether I'll be asked any questions at the port of entry regarding my long stay outside or re-entry will be smooth?

Thanks
vagg

Is your PR visa still valid? It expires after 12 months.

Yes, you'll be asked about your absences from Canada every time you ask for
admission as returning PR.

Thank Mr. Miller for prompt reply.

Could you please tell me what PR visa kathleen_cg is referring to in her reply in this thread? As far as I know, once you become permanent resident and get your PR card, you can stay 3 years outside Canada out of every 5 years?

Thanks

She probably referred to PR visa that is valid for landing for up to 12
months from medicals. But you are already a landed PR, so your PR visa
doesn't matter anymore.
