Hi,

I have seen lots of articals in terms of RCMP check posted before, but
the more articals I read, the more confused I am. The more confused I
am, the more worried I am. jee.

Actually,I got the letter from the CIC, which said that the CIC is
completed my initial assessment, and a personal interview is not
necessary at this time,(but the visa officer has right to have an
interview with me if it is necessary in the future). The CIC is
willing to finalized my application.

In the letter, the CIC asked me to do
- Medical test within 60 days
- Provide a letter of proof of funds
- provide a RCMP 'no-record' letter

The first 2 things, I have done right away, but the RCMP
'no-record'letter cause me the most headache.
I made few phone calls to the CIC Toronto, the officer told me that I
only have to go to the Head office of Toronto police station to get a
certified letter.
When I got to the police station,I asked one of the police officers,
and also show her the letter I got from th CIC-- cause I want to
confirm if I come to the right palce and can get what exactly what the
CIC needs. She told me, yes, I am in the right place.
She asked me to filled up the application form and 2 pieces of my
legal IDs(eg. passport, driver licence), application fee (CAN$24.15
(21+tax))
She told I can get the letter right after 15-20 mins 'cause it is not
the rush hour. After 15 mins ONLY, I got the certified letter.


OK. HERE is my question:
After I saw those articals posted in this board about RCMP check, I
start to worried if I got the right one. 'cause I already mailed my
document to Buffalo 2 weeks ago already. :-|

If the RCMP check will need at least 150 days process time, how come I
get the certified letter so quick.

Can anyone help me with this?

If what you got was a name check then you have the wrong piecec of
information.

You need a RCMP clearance. Fingerprints are sent to Ottawa where records
are searched. The results of that search are commonly sent to the visa post
(although, they can be returned to you if you wish) This takes about 4-6
months currently.

what you are talking might be name-checked certificate, CIC wants the one
against the fingerprint database.
