Please can you assist. I am a Canadian (48yrs) currently living in UK with =
my British wife (27 years married). and wish to return to Canada to live. I=
have tried calling the Mississauga CIC on their advertised numbers but fin=
d that they have been changed to 888 freecall numbers which are not accessi=
ble from the UK (the line goes dead). The High Commission in London are sti=
ll advertising the old nos. and you can never speak to anyone directly just=
these interminable machines.
My query - My wife has done the medicals and we have obtained the police cl=
earance and I have the bank draft so all is ready to be posted.
1. On the IMM5481 the form states that this need not be completed in the ca=
se of a spouse but instead fill out IMM1283.
IMM1283 states that it does not need to be filled out in the case of a spou=
se.
2. Also the London CHC answermachine says that Canadians residing abroad mu=
st be able to provide an address in Canada. Not my case at the moment, shou=
ld I come over anyway and purchase/rent a property or can that wait until t=
he papers are processed.

Hello!
I am not an expert on the other questions you ask, but I have a suggestio=

ith my British wife (27 years married). and wish to return to Canada to liv=
e. I have tried calling the Mississauga CIC on their advertised numbers but=
find that they have been changed to 888 freecall numbers which are not acc=
essible from the UK (the line goes dead). The High Commission in London are=
still advertising the old nos. and you can never speak to anyone directly =
just these interminable machines.<<
If you replace the area code 888 for North American toll-free numbers and=
use 881 instead, you will be able to get through. (Although not toll-free=
.) Also, if a number has an 800 toll-free area code, that can be replaced =
with 880 to call from abroad.
