Default Questions about "Ready for Visa" email

Morning all,
Not specifically British related, but, well, worth a shot asking you knowledgeable lot.

Someone may have seemingly received a "Ready for Visa" email from CIC.
Reading through the email, it would seem to indicate if you hold a US passport and you're residing in Canada as a temporary resident, that you can simply send in a photocopy of the photo page of your US passport, and any amended pages.

So the questions are:
a) is it correct you just send photocopies and NOT the original passport
b) Is it just the photo page and amended pages?
c) What are "amended pages?
d) Any harm in photocopying all pages in the passport and sending it over?
e) Can I have an "E" please Bob?

Thanks in advance.

Don't make this harder than it needs to be. In most cases for a US citizen, a copy of the pp bio page plus photos to the spec, copy of email, filled in Annex at the bottom of the email, plus return Xpress envelope is what's required. Follow the instructions in the email precisely. Read it carefully line by line.

I think the confusion on my part stems from here:

If you are holder of passport(s) from countries whose citizens need an eTA to travel to Canada or a holder of passport(s) from the United States, you will need to submit one photocopy of the photo page and any pages containing amendments of the passport for you and for each accompanying family member. Please do not send your original passport(s). Your passport(s) should be valid for at least 6 months.

Emphasis on the "or" is mine.

So to clarify, as the person holds a US passport, they only need to send off a photocopy (plus photos, annex A - these bits are very clear).

Also, what exactly are "amendments" as mentioned in "pages containing amendments of the passport"?

I suspect that if you had one you wouldn't be asking.

The only country whose citizens don't require eTA or a visa is the US. US citizens are not visa required. Therefore they do not need a visa counterfoil attached to their passport so don't need to send the original document.

I don't understand your issue if you have a US passport ???

Oh, thank Mr. Google, not me.

On refection though, I invested a total of about 8 seconds of my valuable time in typing a relevant query into the google search line, reading the short answer and posting the link for you.

OTOH Google only sacrificed 1 ms of it's much less valuable time.

So on balance, I should be thanked 8,000 times as much as google, although you're very welcome anyway.
