Default question: sponsoring a brother

Hi,

I am currently in the process of appyling for the Canadian citizenship,
as soon as I complete my remaining couple of months here. I am working
full time in Toronto. My wife, who doesn't work, has a brother who is 20
years old. Given the fact that I am the one who is working, is it
possible that my wife could sponsor her brother, having me as co-signer?

Thank you.

Default Re: question: sponsoring a brother

As far as sponsorship in general goes there does exist the possibility of a
spouse co-signing an application to help meet the LICO level for income.

In your case it's irrelevant as your wife cannot sponsor her brother.
Sibings can only be sponsored in extreme cases where no other relatives
exist or they are orphans under the age of 18 and unmarried.
