Default Question regarding PR

Hello,

I have some questions.

1) How do i need to apply for Canada PR ? Is it safer to apply through
lawyer or can i directly apply myself ?

2) If i apply for PR now, what is the processing time nowadays?

3) If i get my PR - what is timeframe withinwhich i should land in
Canada to keep the status alive?

4) Can you point me to URLs which talks about the documents that i need
to prepare for filing?

Thanks,
Ganesh

Default Re: Question regarding PR

1) If you are sure that you know the rules, procedures, how application
package should be prepared and what needs to be submitted to assure success
then you can do it on your own. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to do it.
But even a rocket scientist without any experience in immigration field can
make mistakes in the application leading to long delays or refusal. So, it
is really up to you.

2) It depends from many factors like your nationality, country you legally
reside in and resided before, visa post application is processed in, how
well application package is prepared and if it is prepared good enough to
secure interview waiver. If you submit case today it may take anywhere from
16 months (rather unlikely) to well over 3 years to complete.

3) You need to land in Canada within validity of PR visa - such is valid for
up to 12 months from medicals or less if passport expires sooner. After
successful landing you'll need to live in Canada for at least 730 days (2
years) in every 5 years period to keep your PR status.

4) www.cic.gc.ca - it is Canadian government's website and if you haven't
visited it yet then you have a lot to learn first. The first thing you need
to do before checking what documents you need is to find out is you
qualify - you may do a basic self-assessment test on the above website or
you may contact me directly for free evaluation.
