Default question: fiancee immigration

Hi all,

My girlfriend is studying in Japan, holding China passport, I want to apply
for fiancee

immigration to Canada for her, as my job doesn't allow me to go to Japan to register

marriage recently, and it may not be easy for her to get a visitor visa to
come to Canada

to register marriage in Canada. I would like to know:

1. How long would it take for fiancee immgration application? Same as Spouse, no

difference? After she submits application, is it legal for us to register marriage

in a third country(Japan or China) before the immigration application is appoved?

If possbile, how much would be affected for fiancee immigration?(I mean the
time etc..).

2. Does Canada Consulate at Japan still process immigration cases? It seems that

Canada Consulate at Japan stops that because in Immigration Kit, Canada Consulate

at Japan is not in the list of Abroad Canada Immigration Offices. Then which
consulate

should she submit her application to, HongKong or Beijing?

Thanks a lot for your kindly answer.

Default Re: question: fiancee immigration

Fiancee sponsorship requires sponsor to meet financial obligations. If you can then
you should start the process as a fiancee. This means that within 90 days of landing
in Canada, you would have to demonstrate that you married.

If you marry before the process is finished you can send docs to visa post and they
will change it to spousal.

The time between spousal and fiancee should not be very much different, though I have
found in the past that depending on the post it can vary greatly.

If your fiancee is in Japan, she should apply in Manila.
