Default Question about Express Entry PR app

I will not be ready before January with my application, I'm still waiting for some documents from UK and still need to go and pass the English test.

I read today about the new procedure but a lot of things seem to be vague.

From what I understand this will be like a contest, whomever has better application/skills will be selected.

I'm applying through CEC. I currently have over one year experience of work in Canada and positive LMO. So before, if my NOC category had 200 places I was guaranteed successful entry as long as the quota hasn't reached it's limit, now they will select the best candidates so it won't be on a first come first served basis, am I understanding this correctly?

Also, from the moment you send the application how long will take for them to let you know you have been successful?

CEC is no longer accepting applications for 2014 and this will be replaced by the Express Entry as of 1 Jan 2015. Basically the youngest 20-29 with a job offer in Canada stand the best chance of being accepted as they will have the most points. Nobody can really say how it will work. CIC expect the job bank available to employers wont be ready until early 2015 which will then allow employers to contact persons.
Several threads on Express Entry nobody can really say what will happen and my thoughts have come from several Canadian news articles. Check yesterdays Globe & Mail for an article.

Enter it with a job offer and without and see the difference.

Yes, they drop drastically. It's ok I guess since I have a postive LMO so it doesn't affect me. Thank you.

Also, from what Isee the max points is 1200. I get 964, so I guess it's not bad (or so I'm hoping)

Thanks, that's really helpful!

Also, from what Isee, they will be accepting applications under old system until December 31st.

although this has been asked on another thread but when they say job offer - can that include if you are already working in Canada for a company that want to take you on for the long term?

I think it has to have a positive LMIA.

well yeah sure but you would need a LMIA for a job offer as well in most fields as well.

If you get the LMIA, it is a job offer regardless of whether you are in Canada or not

As others have said, this job offer needs to be supported by positive LMO, which unfortunately excludes people currently working on IEC.

Well that sucks. Well, for me, anyway. I'm unlikely to be doing a job (at least not in Vancouver) where I will be enough of an expert to warrant a company spending $1,000 to get an LMO. Especially if they can just hire me for nowt and not worry about my PR.

Then if you really want an LMO why don't you just ask your boss to sign the docs and pay for it yourself. I'm not an expert in my field either, I have a regular office job but I needed an LMO, my boss agreed to sign the paper work and I have done the rest myself.

You could also try the PNP - I don't think the BC PNP requires an LMIA. That would also get the 600 points on offer for a job offer.
