Question about Adult Simplified Passport Renewal process?

I have a question about the Adult Simplified Passport Renewal process: ( I plan to apply in person )

It's about this document:

https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/ir...df/pptc054.pdf

It says that point 3 is only to be completed if one was born between 1977 and 1981. ( I presume I am to omit these questions and answers a, b and c altogether, as this is about the "lost Canadians") I was born before 1975 and naturalized.

However there is the "c" question about the citizenship certificate, - mine was issued before 2007, am I still required to fill out this form?:
https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/ir...ptc001-eng.pdf
( presume, no, it's for the "lost Canadians" as well?)

How would they at the passport office check if I am a Canadian citizen? The old passport and the small citizenship certificate ( issued before 2007 ) would do?

Also regarding the two references?

Do they have to be Canadian citizens? Residing also in Canada? or could they be back in the UK as well?

Re: Question about Adult Simplified Passport Renewal process?

I've sucessfully renewed my passport now. The two references, both Canadians, one living in the UK one living in Canada were never contacted.

The citizenship certificate wasn't required, - apparently they had all the data on file.

The two references were never contacted and one of them stated that they were never contacted when providing a reference for a passport application. It's also possible the authorities know these individuals from database details they have on file.

As I don't claim benefits and neither had an income, that was the only question the authorities had, however that was soon explained by myself.

Only downside: It still says "Her Majesty" not "His Majesty", - and there will be new passports by September and October, but I couldn't wait that long.
