Default Query about Spousal, in-country PR

Hi - I'm looking for some info from the immigration experts. I sent off my PR application to Vegreville in June, 2005. This application is Spousal, as my wife is Canadian, and in-country, as we're living in Ottawa. I'm currently here on a one-year work visa.
My query for the experts is this: We haven't received anything from CIC since we posted it. Is this to be expected? Not a receipt, not a case number, nothing. I know they're really busy, but should we have received something by now - five months later? If only a receipt?
Thanks for all responses.

Yes, it is normal for inland process - you won't get anything until case is assessed and it may take 8+ months. Vegreville is currently assessing applications received in March 2005:

Andrew: I've seen your postings to other queries - I hoped you'd pick up on this one.
That's great news, thanks very much. And thanks for the quick response. I'll sleep easier now - was beginning to panic... :-)
