Default Qualification help/info pls. Can't find answers to this question.

Hi everyone. Husband and I have been looking into moving to Canada with our littlw boy.
We have read a lot/most of the stickies and wiki section and are getting fairly clued up.
We do still have some questions which we can't find answers to.
My husband is a carpenter/boat builder and we are looking to move to Alberta (not so much for Boat Building lol, but have researched and read that it is currently one of the easiest to get into). He is arranging a course now to retrain and get extra qualifications in the Carpentry sector with which to better his chances of a job offer.
we have read that some Uk qualifications are meaningless in parts of Canada eg NVQ. Can anyone tell me if there is a list or info where we can see what is and is not recognised. The new qualification is sonething called a CSkills which replaces the old City and Guilds. It could also lead onto an HNC.
Any help much appreciated. Thanks

Hi and welcome to BE

If your husband has 9000 hours of experience he could see if he can qualify for this:

https://tradesecrets.alberta.ca/expe...icate-program/

You may want to look at the Alberta Temporary Foreign Worker pilot program that enables certain trades to obtain an Temporary Work Permit without necessarily requiring an LMO.

https://www.albertacanada.com/files/...steam-pipe.pdf

Then apply (once he has a job offer etc.,) for Alberta Provincial Nomination: https://www.albertacanada.com/opport...-criteria.aspx

Or he could apply under the Federal Skilled Worker - Trades - program for Permanent Residency: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigra...plications.asp

I will move your post to the Immigration section as it's likely that most of your questions will revolve around that.
