Qualification certification

Hi,
My query is regarding the trades occupation certification. I understand that to make a visa application for P.R./skilled trades, the occupation certification has to accompany the visa application. Is the AIT Approval letter to challenge the certification sufficient for this purpose or do you have to have the actual occupation certification to submit with the PR visa application?

Thanks in anticipation of your answer.

You need to have the actual certificate when you apply.

But, from previous posts, your husband is a flooring installer (NOC no. 7295 - http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/noc/english/...al=7&val1=7295), which isn't on the list of eligible occupations for the Skilled Trades program (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigra...plications.asp).

You may well be asking for yourself, or somebody else, but just thought I'd double check that in case you thought your husband was eligible!

HTH.

Hi Christmasoompa. Thanks for your reply, it is as I thought unfortunately. Yes you are correct, my Husband is a floor covering installer but he would be applying under NOC 7205 - contractors and supervisors. His training is in flooring so therefore he still has to have his trade assessed with the AIT.

Ah, ok, so he runs his own business and supervises other people installing flooring rather than doing it himself? In which case, then yes, he would qualify under that NOC code (as long as he does the 'main duties' listed under it, and can prove it - and doesn't do the main duties listed under 7295 instead!), but he would need the certificate to apply.

You can download the document checklist to see exactly what documentation is required to apply, that might be helpful.

Best of luck.
