Default Proving common law for open work permit (under main holder with study permit)

Hi, I'm currently a full time international student in Canada, with a valid study permit. My boyfriend is here with me, has been here since end of December. Due to Covid, he recently got his visitor's visa extension approved. We are looking at getting him an open work permit as my common law partner. We have been together for about 3 and a half years, but due to the fact that he is from the UK, and I'm not, we haven't lived together continuously for 1 year. Would it suffice if we have pics from different occasions, shared bank account in Canada, travel plans, letters from people confirming our relationship, stays at different airbnbs? We talked about getting married, would that look suspicious? Thanks!

No. They are quite clear that it must be at least 12 months continuous.

Not particularly. You will have to explain your relationship and how long you have known each other etc. but it is surely not at all unusual that people that have known each other for 3+ years get married.
