Good grief no. Considering that postal codes don't always map to municipal boundaries
for one thing. Also, a house may be valued at $100K in one place with a tax rate of
3% and the same kind of house the next town over can be valued at $200K with a 2% tax
rate. Then what you get for your taxes also varies, so just comparing tax rates
doesn't tell the whole story.

Have not heard about such a thing, but many cities often prepare property tax rate
surveys, comparing their city or town with other towns in the province, and with
major cities all over Canada. I have seen one published by my town (Penticton, BC;
around here we pay about 1% of the assessed values, and the assessed value seems
quite close to the fairm market value, from what I've seen; the report said, if
memory serves, that this is more or less in the middle of the BC rates); a web search
found a few more, e.g.
http://www.gov.edmonton.ab.ca/planni...nch/economic_-
demographic_Information/property_tax_survey.html
Other than that, ask your realtor. Even if they have a database, they won't let you
access it directly, but they will be able to look up tax rates for most properties
in the MLS.

2% 3%, are those in Canada? In USA, the rate can go as high as 3%, but my friend got
one in Toronto only paying 1300 for tax, that is less than
5/1000.Can you tell me where you live and the tax rate there? I am mainly interested
in Toronto and Vancouver. and Tell me how to find out the preperty rate of any
building I am interested in. Thanks

If it's listed on the MLS (www.mls.ca), the tax may already be shown there, or
if not, e-mail or call the realtor whose name appears in the listing, and
he'll tell you.

It says 1780 for tax. Is that Monthly or yearly? Will it change after 1 year,
depending on the value of the house?

It may do ... yes. It depends on the "market value" of the house, which is some
fictitious number that the provincial valuation people cook up.
