Default Proof of Work Experience

Hi All

Hoping you can help as we are now in the final process of checking (and rechecking) the SW application before it is sent off hopefully by the end of the week (Police checks run out in a couple of weeks).

Husband is principal applicant and has been self-employed carpenter since 1999. For proof of work experience is it sufficient to send signed copies of his accounts for the past 5 years, business bank statements and payslips from companies he has sub contracted to. Would he also benefit from sending a letter outlining that he is self employed with all the relevant details relating to his being self employed and his company registration as he is now a limited company.

Am I right in thinking that for maximum points under work experience category it only requires 4+ years in relevant NOC? He was apprentice carpenter then journeyman dating from 1985 - 1997 but went offshore from 1997 to 1999. Following this period offshore he resumed as a carpenter but went self employed (nearly 6 years now). Is this enough for maximum points under work experience category?

Any help greatly appreciated.

PS no doubt will have some more questions before the end of the week as the panic sets in.

None of documents you listed proves that your husband has experience in claimed occupation. He needs evidence documenting duties he performed, periods of employment/work/contracts, hours per week worked and compensation received.

Andrew

Thanks for your prompt response.

Although he is self-employed he has been doing work (almost exclusively) for the same company since 1999. So if they were to draw up a letter outlining the work he does for them (ie erecting framework, installing kitchens, roughing and finishing, etc) plus how many hours a week he works for them and he provides copies of the wage slips he receives from them, would this be sufficient? If he were able to get this information which covers nearly 6 years would this be enough evidence? Or does he still need to provide evidence from previous years?

Thanks again for your help. Sorry there are more questions.

Yes, such letter including all required info and with supporting evidence will work. All work experience should be documented, but proving past 6 years (providing that all was full time) should be enough to secure 21 points.
