Default Proof of Student Support

My daughter will be attending college in Ontario this fall (we are U.S.
citizens). The Canadian consulate says we have to have proof of funding to
support her education. They indicated we need a notarized letter of
support. I am a bit confused about just what they will accept and how to
get it.

We will be paying for her college with a combination of personal funds and
college PLUS loans (mostly loans) obtained under the American college loan
system. They said that a promissory note won't be sufficient proof.

Does anyone have experience with this and have an idea what would be
acceptable to them?

Hi Bill,

I am from India presently doing Master's in Mining Engineering in Ontario. What I did in my case was:

I have shown them (CHC, New Delhi) the funding letter I have got from my supervisor.

Apart from that I have submitted the following documents:

1. Bank statement from my bank manager stating that I have so much of balance in my account, which is earmarked for my study expenses in Canada.

2. An affidavit from my father and father-in-law (notary has to sign these papers) stating that they can bear all the expenses for my studies

3. I have also submitted a self affidavit (to be signed by a notary) stating that I have employed for so many years and the income I earned through the employment will be used for my study expenses.

Hope this helps to some extent
