Default Proof of Funds Question

Am currently applying for a work permit, and according to the CIC guide (IMM5487E) I need to show I have enough money to support myself and dependents.

However, this is not asked for elsewhere, and is not mentioned on the Embassy site and instructions.

What do I do... send info or not? How much money does one need to show one has when coming into employment in Canada?

Thanks for the help!
Matt

Has no-one else got any information on this?

I would be most grateful if you could let me know if you do.

Yes, include proof of "unemcumbered" funds, ie readily available cash. Provide 3 months copies of bank statements, or details of savings accounts, shares, investments etc, ISA,s PEP's or other local savings plans.

The amount varies on how many people are in the application, for my family of 4 we had to show miniumim of just under $17K CDN.

If you have property and equity in this, send in a couple of recent martket valuations and a copy of an uptodate mortgage statements to show even greater funds.

In the aplication forms you can down load from CHC web site there is a specific section where your have to show this, details are provided in the " how to fill in the forms" downloads.

Good luck

When I first came to Canada, I was on a WP. At the Immigration counter (Toronto) I just showed my employment contract, the papers that CIC sent me. During renewal, I send them a copy of my payslip together with the application form. No Proof of funds. I did not have any problem.
