Proof of funds: Local bank?

1. When the Canadian Embassy ask you for proof of funds, does your money has to be in a local bank in the country where you reside or can be in another country? For example: If I have a bank account on my name in the US and I decide to keep the money there, is it okay for the Canadian Embassy? Will they accept the bank statement?

2. At the port of entry, do you have to actually carry ALL the money with you or you can only show your bank statement?

Thanks in advance my friends! :)
