Default Progress at Last!

After a year of trying to secure an LMO/LMIA for my wife's new role in Canada, and two failed applications (both on rule change technicalities, it appears) we took a different route and today found out that our Visa and work permit applications have been approved!

The CIC website states they'll send us details of how to get the actual documentation shortly - wondered if anyone had any experience of timelines for this next part of the process - i.e. issuing documentation.

Having shelved our plans to relocate, we're now dusting off those relocation quotes!

Hurrah :-)

Approx 7 to 11 hours, depending on where you're flying in to, plus maybe an hour the other end to get the work permit at immigration.

Unless you're not a UK citizen and/or have a specific reason for wanting to apply via a visa office? If so, then it would depend on the visa office, but about 10 weeks is the norm.

We're British citizens, and will be travelling with a 3 and a 4 year old so the more we can pre-arrange the better to reduce chaos at the airport with the two of them.

I was thrown a bit by the 7-11 hours you mention - I was anticipating having to send off passports and get them back a few days/weeks later. Is there another way?

Yes, you just get them at the airport when you arrive! Full info in the Wiki or on the CIC website.

Thanks for the heads up - couldn't see the "next steps" info on the CIC website, but will check the Wiki and wait for the follow up letter :-)

So you're saying that we'd be classed under "you do not need a temporary resident visa (TRV) to visit Canada"?

Yes, unless you're not a UK citizen, as per my post above? Assuming you are a UKC, then you don't need a TRV to visit Canada, so that applies to you.
