If it is UK based consulting firm (the biggest or even medium one) then they are not authorized immigration representatives. They may claim on their websites and in promotional materials that their experts are authorized, but their experts are likely just subcontracted in Canada (the cheapest they found) and you are the one being overcharged and suffering from delays.

I only stated how processing time relates to quality, completeness and conclusivness of application package and supporting evidence - nothing about approval or having a borderline case.

If you got "90 days" or "delay letter" or any request for additional evidence instead of initial assessment with interview waived and medical forms it clearly and only means that at the time officer started assessing the application package it was not complete, conclusive and/or up to date enough to make selection decision without asking for more evidence and doing more verifications. And if you get more requests it means that what you submitted after first request is still not conclusive and/or that more doubts and questions were raised when more verification results came from outside.

All applicants believe that evidence they submitted is more than conclusive - unfortunately in majority of cases at least one and often more pieces of evidence are not conclusive enough. More - quite often evidence and/or claims/facts raise follow up questions and/or doubts that applicant obviously doesn't expect and without having any expertise and experience with process doesn't know that such will be raised and that they all should be fully addressed and conclusively documented with application. Add to it contradictions found in the background check (verification of credentials and claims) and you have more delays than others.

Even if you for some reason may have submitted perfect and conclusive package but haven't updated it just before assessment then you will get request for updated and/or additional evidence - such simple request will add anywhere from 3 to 6+ months to the process. If you get another request later - it will too add more time to process.

Still nothing about points or borderline case. Applicants with 50 points may have perfectly prepared, fully conclusive package and by the same token applicants with 90 points may have an inconlusive and/or incomplete and/or outdated evidence. So, the former may be refused quite fast at the same day their assessment stage started while the latter may wait months or even years longer for their initial assessment.
surely though everyone needs to provide up to date information ie. police checks, employment letters, proof of funds etc. 2 years since application is a long time and surely applicants have to prove what they have been doing since applying.
