Default Processing Time

Hi all,

I'm going to be applying for Canadian residency in September, once I've got 1yrs work experience under my belt. I should then qualify.

I've seen some posts on here saying that it can take years for the application to go through - is this allways the case, or only for some? If so, is there anything in particular which can slow things down??

Cheers,

Sam

Hello, Sam, and welcome to the BE forum.

It used to be the case for all permanent residence visa applications that were submitted via the skilled worker route and that were not backed up by pre-arranged employment. They're in the process of moving towards a system that will speed things up for applicants who are in high demand occupations and that will immediately reject applicants who are in low demand occupations.

If so, is there anything in particular which can slow things down??
I recommend that you read the BE Wiki article called Quick Guide to Canadian Immigration.

Hope that helps.

ok, that's good, hopefully by the time I apply my qualifications (MEng in Aerospace Engineering) might help me through a little quicker

I've seen that guide before, too, thanks
