Default Procedure once our PPR comes through

We have received our Medical Request letter from the Embassy and it will all go well and our visas will then follow in the New Year. We are aware that we will have 12 months from the medicals to move to Canada. But our question is once the visas arrive do we have to move to Canada permanently or can we go to Canada for a holiday get our passports stamped and then come back to the UK for another 12 months before moving there?

Any advice and help would be appreciated.

Yes you can. You would go to Canada to "land", then you can return to the UK. As long as you keep to the PR requirements which I believe is 2 years out of every 5 in the country you will be fine.

Congrats on getting your med requests

Hi Ellejay
Yes you can 'Land' and then return to the UK but they will ask you to provide them with a Canadian address to which they will send your PR card ( approx 60 days on landing ). You can provide a relatives or friends address it can't be a PO box or business address.
Hope this helps .

Congratulations - we're doing exactly the same. If you don't have a canadian address you can apply online up to 6 months later for your PR cards; if you supply them with a canadian address after this date (i.e. 6 months) there is a small fee.

Goodluck.

Hi ellejay,
We're doing the same too. We're landing next year and then coming home to sell the house and get at least one job over there. It would be impossible for us otherwise.
Congratulations on getting your medical requests. It won't be long now!!

My brother in law and his family live in Vancouver so we are planning on taking a holiday there and then give their address for our cards to be sent to.

Good luck with everything, hope it all goes well.
