PR questions
Hi everyone,
I have a couple of questions regarding my Permanent Residence application. I applied as a Common Law partner and my application was received in early September 2017. My current open work permit expires in March 2018. 1: I completed an IMM5710 form and included it with my PR application. Is this all I need to do regarding extending my current work permit? 2: Do you receive any sort of official paperwork (e.g. a letter, email, certificate) acknowledging implied status, once that is activated? 3: I am booked to go to New York for work for a couple of days in late March, but after my current work permit expires. If my new work permit hasn't come back by then, can I still travel on implied status? Is it unwise to do so? 4: On the home page of my account on the CIC website, under my PR application, it says "Your Action Is Required". However, when I go into the details of my application it says that everything is submitted and that they are processing the application. I've uploaded the additional documents they've asked me for. Should I be concerned about this? Thanks in advance for any help! |

(I'm *guessing* that most likely response is you've applied inland, and want the spousal work permit while you wait? If so, that should be what you need, but there could be a variety of other situations). 2: Do you receive any sort of official paperwork (e.g. a letter, email, certificate) acknowledging implied status, once that is activated? 3: I am booked to go to New York for work for a couple of days in late March, but after my current work permit expires. Re: PR questions
Thanks for your help! My current work permit is IEC. I applied for my PR and work permit extension inland, and I definitely want to continue working. I have a contract until the end of June which will likely be extended for at least another year.
The main thing I need to know is if I need to do anything else regarding extending my current work permit, or whether the IMM5710 form I filled out is enough. If it's the latter, I'm getting impatient waiting for CIC to get back to me. I really want to hear from them, especially given the work trip to New York in March which I mentioned. |

I believe that you cannot get implied status based on an IEC, but others are better informed than I. http://britishexpats.com/forum/immig...us-iec-815262/ |
Re: PR questions
Yep, what he said. ^^
If you're on an IEC then you've not applied to extend anything, you've presumably applied for a new work permit as part of your inland spousal sponsorship? So you need to wait for that. HTH and welcome to the forum. |
Re: PR questions
Thanks everyone for your help. I guess I need to play the waiting game. I'm going to try to call CIC t ask them too, but getting through to them is pretty much an impossible task.
