Default PR & Medical Benefits

Please help on these questions -

1. How long it takes to get PR card after landing Canada provided one starts immediately?
2. How long it takes to get medical benefits especially maternity benefits after landing or after PR card which ever is eligible?

1. Your PR card takes about 4-6 to be processed after "landing"
2. It depends on the province where you settle, most have a 3 month eligible wait for coverage.
3. EI Maternity benefits require you to have worked 600 insurable hours prior to your claim.

That makes the next step little tough for us. For now, we would have to plan our baby born outside Canada. Later, me and my spouse would land in Canada before required landing date to remain eligible for PR. There would be around 1 month of gap between these two events. Rest depends on baby's mood to be in the world earlier or late

Is it possible for me to go alone as I am the primary applicant?
Would you know if it is possible to extend the landing date in any scenario?

I checked that the three months wait is applicable for BC, Onatario, etc but not for Alberta (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resourc...me/wel-06e.asp). We had mentioned BC as our state for settlement in our application. Can we go to Alberta instead of BC?

1. If the child is born before you "land" your PR visa is no longer valid and you have to update your application to include the child.
2. No extensions.
3. If you were the primary applicant, you could "land", but if your spouse's COPR (visa) expires, then you would have to return to Canada and sponsor the spouse and child.

As long as you are not sponsored by BC, yes.
