PR for Family doctor on TWP
Hi everyone,
I have not been on this forum since arriving in Toronto in Sept 2014. Thanks to everyone who has answered my queries in the past.
I am hoping someone will be able to point me in the right direction. Any advice will be appreciated.
I have been working in Scarborough since Oct 2014. I am on a TWP. A colleague who started around the same time applied for PR as soon as they landed and is trying to convince me that I should apply as soon as possible. My plan was that I would get one year experience and then apply through the Canadian work experience route. Which would be best for my situation ? Is there any other route I should investigate ? thanks

Is there any particular reason you want to wait? Personally, I'm inclined to agree with your colleague, and if I were you I'd apply now. You've got no security at all on a TWP, plus if you plan to stay permanently then the sooner you get PR the sooner you can become a citizen!
Jmo, but that's what I'd do.
Good luck.

thanks for your advice christmasoompa. I thought applying through the canadian experience route would be quicker ?

Whether you apply via CEC, PNP or FSW, you'd still be an Express Entry applicant, so there shouldn't be any difference in processing time.

Hello fari
I agree with christmasoompa
As the rules can change anytime, getting your PR ASAP seems best, especially if you plan to stay
I applied via the Express Entry in January. I got here on a TWP as a psychiatrist in March 2014 I was just shy of the 1 year but still had enough points
CIC says EE should take 6 months only
I think there has been a recent change in how long you need to be on PR before applying for Canadian citizenship (don't know the details), a possible example of how things can change
All the best

Fari... My husband has been here for a year, and recently applied via EE...he didn't actually qualify for CEC on the EE profile as he listed himself as self employed.. Which he is so apply now!

agree with all above.
you should apply now as having PR give you the flexibility which you dont have on TWP.
I arrived in Jan and already applied via EE.
FSW is the route.
best of Luck!
