Default PR expiration date

With the self-service line, after you arrive and swipe your PR card do you still have to present yourself and answer questions with the Immigration officer? I am asking as i have been away from Canada for 4 years but my PR card is valid until August 2014 i believe.....thanks

your PR card is valid, you PR status is in severe jeopardy, unless you've been overseas working for a Canadian company or with a Canadian spouse.
Otherwise youhaven't and will not be able to meet the 2 out of 5 years residency requirement

PR card validity has nothing to do with your status as PR.

See people mocked me when I suggested that an adequate replacement for the IELTS would be to ...
write a paragraph explaining how you can have a valid PR card yet not meet the requirements to maintain your PR status.

It would make everyone's life so much easier. Don't understand this basic concept , no PR for you

I have moved your post as it is always a good idea to start your own thread rather than hijack another on a different subject.
