Unhappy "PR cards are in the post" - delivery times

Hi everyone,

I was told our PR cards (there are 4 of us) were put in the post Thursday 13 November .... and yet there's still no sign of them (today is Monday 24 November). Getting a bit concerned now as to how long it's taking because I'm flying back to the UK very soon for the December/Xmas period.

Has anyone else ever asked for their PR card to be sent to an in-Canada PO box? What happened? I was told by CIC that having a PO box # as a mailing address was not a problem. Now I'm getting anxious.

Does anyone know where BC PR cards are produced? (I am wondering whether they are they produced somewhere really remote 'n snowed-in and then sent out on horseback when the pass opens again. LOL)

Any responses gratefully received, especially humorous, morale uplifting ones

Cheers.

Over a week for post within Canada?

That's standard....

Things arrive faster from the UK and USA sometimes!

We have had post sent to us from Calgary, 50km away that has taken over 2 weeks to get to us.

My police forms took 7 weeks to get to the UK from Calgary and that was registered delivery.

I think there is no rhyme or reason to Canada post and if you hit lucky things might get delivered in a reasonable time frame - or you could be waiting weeks.

I don't think 2 weeks is anything to worry about at this stage... 2 months maybe...

If everything is in order with your passport and work permits I don't think you need your card to travel anyway. If you haven't got it you can't take it. I'm sure they see this all the time.

Well, what do you know! Posting on this site does make a difference .... all four PR cards arrived this morning. That means it took them 12 days to get across from CPC Sydney NS to a PO box in Downtown Vancouver. Going by the above posts (and many thanks for these BTW), I guess I was lucky to have received them so quickly. Just in time for my flight.

One thing that did surprise me though was that the envelopes are sent in such a way that it is obvious to anyone looking at them that they are from the CIC Case Processing Centre and thus likely to contain personal data. Would be better if CIC used plain brown or white envelopes with a 'Return to' PO Box number, and not the present method. Just a thought.
