Default PR Cards - kids

Do kids get their own PR card?

Asking because we may land and activate our PR and then come back to the UK. If we do this it will be within the given timeline of the living in Canada 2 years out of 5 rule, but it could mean the kids passports run out.

The kids passports will, I assume, have visa's put in them but if the passport runs out and we get new ones unless they have PR cards of their own how do we prove on our return back into Canada they have PR?

Do children of permanent residents need a Permanent Resident Card too?
Yes. Every permanent resident seeking to return to Canada by commercial transportation needs a Permanent Resident card. However, children of permanent residents who were born in Canada are Canadian citizens and need a Canadian passport to travel, not a Permanent Resident Card

Your children will have their own PR cards.

Why not renew their passports before you get PPR?

More expense They only last 5 years and were done about 18 months ago anyway but you always need 6 months grace left on your passport before you can travel. We are also so close be to being asked to send our passports in that I dont think they'd get turned around in time even if we did take that route.

Ah thanks Siouxie for finding that That's good, now I don't have to worry about the whole getting a new passport thing. I can get them new ones in a couple of years when they're due to run out and before we make our final move and they'll have PR cards anyway. Cheers!
