Default PR card renewal - married name

Hi I have a question about my PR card. I am planning on travelling out of the country in late January/early feb. I have a valid PR card which I got at the start of Jan 2014 in my maiden name. In June 2014 my 10 year British passport came up for renewal and I got it swapped to my married name while I renewed it. As soon as I received the passport in August I sent off application for new PR card in my married name so passport and PR card will match. In August, processing times were such I would have PR card back around now. Just checked CIC timelines today and my application is not even in process yet (they are working on ones around June). Processing times are 166 days. So my PR status is not in doubt just my names on passport and PR card currently don’t match.

Looking at CIC website it seems my options are: 1) put in another full application with an urgent travel request and see if get a new card in time (note this means doing the whole application again) or 2) (my husbands idea) Travel and use existing PR card in maiden name to come back in and bring documentation of a) my application for a new card) b) marriage cert c) old and new passports 4) COPR 5) anything else I have to show what is going on. Would I be allowed to do this or do you think it would depend which border guard I met that day?

Does anyone have any experience in a similar situation? Any advice on what to do?

1. If your PR card in your maiden name is still valid, just carry a copy of your marriage certificate.

Ok that's what hubs said so that's a relief! I was like that's the reasonable expectation but who knows at the border...
