PR Card Processing

After what seems like forever my spousal PR application was finally approved today and I will be landing early next week

Does anyone know the rough processing time for a new PR card? CIC officially say 44 days but we all know how wildly inaccurate their timeframes tend to be.

I landed in mid July and my PR card was with me by end of August I think.

I allowed 2 months though (60 days).

In terms of starting work, do you have to wait for the actual PR card before you can start working? I assume you get some sort of paper document which you could use instead.

PR card has nothing to do with working. Once you land you go and get your SIN and then you use that for work eligibility as you will be issued a full SIN# and not a temporary one. You can also take your landing document as proof of PR status.
No need to produce the PR card.
