Default PR card--mailed or pickup required?

There is a rumour going around another website that PR cards are routinely no longer being mailed. Rather, that they require the applicant to pick them up on a specific date at a specific time.

Does anyone have any specific knowledge of this? I hope it is just a rumour as it could create some problems for me.

Thanks

Bosco

Thanks, Vonta

When did you land and when did you receive your card?

The handout I got when I landed said it would be mailed "in about 6 weeks."

Landed in October, stayed for about a week and returned. I gave the immigration officer a friend's address and it was mailed in about 7 weeks.

Question Re: PR card--mailed or pickup required?

I myself want to give friend's address...
Do you give it as care of
or as if you are living there..

It is a dumb question...please answer whether option 1 or option 2?

----option 1--------
Your Name
c/o Your Friend's name
Your Friend's Address
----------
OR
------option 2-----
Your Name
Your Friend's Address
------------------

Should be option 1. ( The immigration officer will ask for an address to send a card. Just explain to him / her that it's your friends address. Provide your freinds phone no if possible. I believe this is requested in the event the courier company cannot deliver the cards because no one was at home, they could phone your friend ).

So are you saying that we have the option of picking up the card if we don't want it mailed?

Nope, not unless you want to go to Sydney Nova Scotia and try where they are processed.
