PR card expiring soon-Need to Travel!

Hello everyone,

I am positing the following on behalf of my friend.

My friend's PR card is expiring on May 9th. She already prepared the renewal application and was about to send it when a need to travel abroad came out this week. Her travel dates are from May 3rd to May 14th. By May 14th her card would be already expired.

Do you have any suggestions on how she can enter Canada. Does she has to do anything before leaving like for exemple going to CIC office in her province and asking them to give her a letter stating that she is renewing her PR card...

Has anyone gone through similar situation? Please advice,

About a billion (ok, maybe an exaggeration, maybe a million

) threads on this subject, and it's also covered in the Wiki article on PR cards.

Put simply, your friend shouldn't need her PR card to enter Canada, but have a hunt and you can read up on it.
