Default PR application/times/everything...HELP!!!

Hi we have been working in Alberta on TWP in full time jobs for coming up or a year we phoned the agency that arranged our TWP for our employer and have discovered we can apply for PR under the Canadian experience class next month.

They want $3500 to do it all...should we go for that (i'm understanding we just sign the papers, they do everything else...so everything will be filled in correctly and properly filed). Is this a normal fee level, or can anyone suggest anyone in the Calgary area who has done a good job?

Is there a chance we might run out of time (14 months left on TWP right now) before we get a decision, and have to return to the UK and await our fate?

If we,and we have no reason to think we wouldn't get our PR is there any other things we need to do to comply, as we are already here and established (finances etc?).

Thanks in advance

That is a normal fee, but most on the forum do it themselves, it's really up to you.

CIC are quoting 13 months for CEC applications at the moment so you'll have to get cracking if you want PR before your current TWP expires, although obviously you can't apply until you've worked the full year.

Not sure how far off the full year required for CEC you are, but you can apply for PR anytime as a Skilled Worker or under the PNP - both of those you could have applied for anytime, even the day you started working in Canada! PNP would obviously also have the advantage of you not having to worry about your TWP expiring.

Good luck.

Would you believe we have very much came through the back door...our jobs are not within Alberta PNP guidelines and certainly not skilled posts and the only way for us is the experience class with a year in a full time job, our employer getting the TWP's was only after showing how the lack of employees had affected the company. trust me we know how lucky we are to be here at all!!

I'm confused - what do you mean by your jobs are 'certainly not skilled'? If they're not 'skilled' (Level A, O or B on the NOC Matrix), then you won't qualify for CEC either.

For CEC the year of full-time work experience must be in a skilled job.

What do you do?

Ok, so seems to be NOC 7512, is that right? That's Skill Level C, so not skilled and doesn't qualify for the CEC I'm afraid.

But double check your NOC code, as I may well have it wrong (I only did a quick search and obviously don't know your duties etc).

I'm hoping that I've got your NOC code wrong, as the only other alternative is that the immi consultant you've spoken to is either stupid or trying to rip you off!!

You can easily check the CIC requirements yourself here - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigra.../apply-who.asp Unfortunately, as you can see, only skilled work experience counts.

HTH a bit, good luck.

Our TWP papers from the CIC lists our jobs as NOC 6313...tour Guide Supervisors? (which is true...we supervise them...)

Ok, so that's Skilled (Skill Level B) and therefore my first answer stands - you can apply via SW, or PNP as well and could have done so anytime since you arrived in Canada!!

So no need to wait for the year if you don't want to.

That's only applicable to the semi-skilled stream, as said above if your NOC is 6313 then your jobs are skilled. The Skilled Stream isn't restricted to certain occupations.

You're welcome.

If you meet the requirements, then personally I'd apply for PR under the PNP, that way you'll get a TWP at first stage approval so won't have to worry about your current TWP expiring and having to stop work, whereas with the CEC that's likely to happen as your timescales are so tight.

Good luck.

It now appears the Immigration agency for whatever reason did not advise us correctly, or rather have left us under the pretence that we are tied to our employer for a minimum of 1 year before we could even consider applying for anything (understandable I suppose, wouldn't look too good taking a large check from our company then helping all those TWP's to apply in their first week for PNP). For the record this agency have stated the best route for approval for us is under the experience class, but we gain the year in August and with a 13 month deadline would be out of TWP status before it's approved.

Hmmm, very odd. Under NOC code 6313 you could have applied for PR as a Skilled Worker (category 2, arranged employment, using your TWP) or PNP any time since arriving.

Maybe ask them which of the three routes they would recommend for you now? Also, just checking, but when you say 'Agency', they are proper immigration consultants? licensed by ICCRC?
Good luck.

They still state the best option is the experience class....which would mean if we are lucky we get our PR just before, or just as our TWP runs out (although they have said we can get an extention on our TWP if it is required...up to 3 months). We are really looking at the PNP now, and as we are fully established in state and both have steady full time jobs, pay our taxes etc we feel this could work out, and obviously the speed the PR is approved is a major attraction.
