Default PR application q’s

Hi,

I was hoping someone could answer a couple of questions I have about my PR application, after a lot of googling I’m still not 100% on the answers.

1. For proof of name change (after marriage), would it be accepted to send the following documents:
marriage cert,
current passport,
birth cert/prev passport (showing maiden name)

2. My husband and I are currently in Canada on (separate) IEC visas, which expire in August. The earliest we can get our medical is March, current processing times for EE seem to be 6 months, which would make it very tight with our current WP expiring. Will we be able to apply for a BOWP while our PR app is processing?

Thank you in advance for any replies! 🙂

1. Yep, that's fine.

2. Potentially yes, but can you confirm which program you're applying under? FSW/PNP/FST/CEC? And have you had an ITA already? I assume so as you mention medicals but just checking!

Thank you for your quick reply!

1. Great, there seemed to be a lot of people talking about needing a notarized document!

2. We’re applying under CEC, and received the ITA yesterday 😃 I know with an IEC visa it can complicate things in regard to extensions etc

Your checklist will tell you if you need documents to be notarised.

CEC is fine then (I was just checking it wasn't a PNP app with named employer on nomination certificate). Not sure what you mean by 'regard to extensions'? IEC isn't extendable, so you will need to apply for a BOWP. You can apply once you have passed the completeness check for your PR application (and have less than 4 months left on your IEC).

Best of luck.
