Default PR Applicant and Work Visa (NAFTA)--A Problem

Hello,

Today I was offered a job at a local university to teach a literature course this summer. I am a PR applicant, living on a student visa, and according to my CAIPS everything is about set (BFD 3 weeks away).

I called CIC and asked them if I can get a "flag-pole" work permit for this job and they said yes because it fall very cleanly under the NAFTA treaty.

Is there ANY chance that this could affect my PR application in an adverse way at all?

Also, is there any conflict in applying for a while holding a student permit? The course is directly related to my course of study.

Thanks for anyone who knows.

I asked the Sydney office about the possibly of getting a work permit while I had a PR application in process. They told me that there was no problem at all. Personally I think it would enhance your PR application as it would indicate to CIC that you would have no problems being successful in Canada.

Australians are so lucky that they can actually contact their RPC! Buffalo doesn't even have a phone number.

Yep, that's what they told me! If you send them an email they will promptly answer it for you.
