Default Posted our PR application using Royal Mail Overseas Recorded signed for!

We posted our (PNP)PR application from the Post Office using Recorded Signed for Airmail for £11.43 This went to a P.O.Box too.

The reason for this post is that we noticed some were paying £44 plus for courier postage as they got tracking updates throughout the delivery process.

We used the Recorded Signed for method (£11.43) and was a bit nervous doing this as the Post office told us we would not be able to track once the Item had left the UK.

This was wrong. A friend of mine used to work for Royal Mail, advised us that we can track via Canada Post( in Canada) & Royal Mail (In UK). We did and we had updates all the way through.

Details below from Canada Post tracking

RJ8520**475GB

Yes, but you trusted it to Canada Post!

Personally, I'd always rather use a courier company for something so important, given Canada Post's reputation for losing stuff, particularly as it's such a small extra amount of money in the grand scheme of things.

JMO though.

Ours is for PNP. Do we still put them on the FSW site?

We have used recorded delivery or special delivery throughout our application and have never had any problems.....the whole process is expensive enough!!
Good Luck

Good idea to save a bit of money but not necessarily for everone.

It might not matter for PNP, but for FSW Cat 1 there is a cap on numbers and just a few days difference in when your application arrives can mean the difference between being under the cap and accepted and being outside the cap and app returned.

Couriers are more reliable than royal Mail and Canada Post and also get the parcel there the next day from UK to Canada and vice versa in our experience.

The cost saving is small and the speed and security factor of couriers is worth the extra IMHO.
There is enough to worry inherent in this process already and we preferred to have the delivery worry over with in 24 hours rather than the week it took this parcel to find its home!!

Cost saving is 75% cheaper and only takes 6 days longer than courier. Its all down to whether you are in a hurry or not and personal preference. If we were all the same, the world would be a boring place.

A lot of time is lost in getting your application together in the first place, plus CIC would not really hurry to send you anything anyway.

If Canadian Post or Royal Mail were that bad,no one would ever use them and they would go out of business.

Hello, just reading through this thread. I'm sure I'm being thick but just want to check something. Your initial application is sent to London, so what is it you are sending to Canada? Thank you

All Skilled worker, PNP applications are sent to CIO Sydney initially. Family class applications are sent to Mississauga (out of Canada) or if In Canada, Vegreville. Only Business class applicants are sent directly to an overseas office.

Hi, I also posted ours through Royal mail - signed for - and they said that it could not be tracked once out of the UK, however looked on Canada post tracking and found it. The mail went to Mississauga where it was to be reviewed by customs for what seemed like DAYS!!! (about 4 days there) then went to Halifax and on to Sydney. Took 10 days in all and cost a little over £16.

My application is also for PNP Manitoba and as I wasn't 100% sure which address to send it to, I sent it to the courier address in Sydney because it needed to be signed for. Bit nerve wrecking waiting for it to be delivered but now just waiting for next step - hopefully it wont take too long .
