Police clearance jurisdiction question?
Hi everyone,
This maybe a potentially silly question but I do need to remove all doubt before
I proceed.
I am an Indian citizen.
Section 3 Appendix E of my application kit says that
QUOTE "You must obtain police certificates or clearances from every country that you,
your spouse, and your dependents over 18 have lived in for more than 6 months since
reaching 18 years of age" UNQUOTE
SO FAR SO GOOD - perfectly clear
It then goes on to say
QUOTE "It is your responsibility to contact the police or relavant authorities in
each of the jurisdictions in which you have lived for more than 6 months since
reaching 18 years of age and obtain a police certificate or clearance." UNQUOTE
Now I have been in Bombay for the last 18 years (since I was 10). But I have moved
around in Bombay staying in different areas with different "police jurisdictions".
For example Cuffe Parade (where I stay currently) would be a different jurisdiction
from say Bandra (where I stayed for 7 years from 1984 -
1991). DO I HAVE TO GET A POLICE CLEARANCE FROM THE BANDRA POLICE STATION AS WELL?
So essentially what I am asking is this - Can someone clarify whether "jurisdiction"
means "areas within the same city" or does it mean "countries"?
My apologies if this "possible interpretation" is ludicrously far-fetched.
Regards
Steven

Re: Police clearance jurisdiction question?
Well, I think for India CHC will do background check and police clearence due to the
fact that corruption is in full swing over there. You can get any police clearence
for mearly 500/- Rs

Re: Police clearance jurisdiction question?
Thanks, but that still doesnt answer my question?
Will I need a multiple police clearance even though I have stayed in the same city?
India CHC may do a background check although Indians still need to submit the Police
clearance certs. alongwith the application package.
