Default Police checks for ex army

Hi,
My husband, who is the main applicant, served with the British army and was stationed in Germany for three years. Does he need to get police checks from the German police, the British military police or both? Any help appreciated, have searched and have not been able to find a definitive answer. Thank you

normal UK police checks from ACPO, German civil police checks from Bonn. For us, at the last minute they asked for military police checks too - they were quite straightforward, we found the address by googling lol. Be aware that you will also need german police checks if you were accompanying - they are required for anywhere you lived for over 6 mos.

What debbiem said.

Civil police checks for principle applicant and spouse for every country that you have lived in for more than six months (after the age of 18).

Typically the Australian checks came back faster than our UK ones (and that delayed our main document submission).

I did not have to provide Military Police checks and we have had our medicals so I am guessing that they are not going to ask for them.

As he was UK Forces when serving in Germany then he should only require UK Military police checks as he was under their jurisdiction when in Germany anyway.

Good luck and peaceful sailing.

Hi, the police checks from Germany was very easy to get, link on the CIC website , I also got a Military Police Clearance from the Service Police Crime Bureau as well the ACPO one, my paperwork is now being processed so a bit 'belt and braces' but better too much than not enough,

amrskipro - We didn't submit SPCB with our ACPO and the Bonn German Civil ones, but those were the ones we were asked to submit as additional info when we got our med requests. Sometimes they want the military ones, sometimes they don't.

They were super-easy anyway, so didn't add on extra time for us. I think it depends on the processing officer tbh.

To be honest I did not even consider Military Police Checks (perhaps as an officer I am normally dealing with them in order to get my soldiers released rather than as a customer) and I am so glad that I did not get hit with an additional information request as a result.

Good advice for other service/ ex-service personnel though.

This forum is such a handy place to find out gems of stress reducing information.

We weren't sure - but obviously even being two SO2's didn't help us lol... perhaps that makes it worse?
